1. What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is the modern alternative to braces. It’s an orthodontic treatment that uses invisible and removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. Unlike traditional braces that require metal hardware, Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic trays that are formed to the shape of your teeth. Each tray or aligner set comes in a package with a number on it. Your dentist will assign a schedule for you to wear them in order until your teeth are as straight as you want them to be. The process can last an average of 6 to 18 months. Invisalign is designed to be an upgrade from regular metal braces so it’s much more quick, discreet and comfortable.

2. How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign works by using a series of aligners that are custom-fit to your teeth, each slightly different from the previous, to gently shift your teeth into their desired positions. Dr Gohar will ask you to wear each set of “trays” or aligners for one or two weeks before moving on to the next one. Your teeth will move into proper alignment over the course of your ortho treatment which includes free refinements if needed.

3. What are the benefits of Invisalign?

  • Invisibility: Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible, so most people won't even notice you're wearing them while you undergo orthodontic treatment.
  • Comfort: Invisalign aligners are made of smooth, clear and comfortable plastic, with no sharp wires or brackets. They come with a cool case so you can remove them to eat.
  • Removability: You can easily remove your aligners for eating, brushing, and special occasions. You can enjoy all your favorite meals and won’t have to worry about unflattering pictures.
  • Predictable Results: Invisalign treatment is carefully planned and supervised with the help of computer imaging software, ensuring precise, timely and predictable results.
  • Improved Oral Hygiene: Unlike traditional braces, you can continue and even improve your regular oral hygiene routine, including flossing, without obstructions.

4. How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The duration of your Invisalign treatment will depend on the complexity of your case. On average, Invisalign treatment can take anywhere from 6 months to 18 months. Your orthodontist may add attachments or tooth colored buttons to speed up the process. Dr Gohar will provide a personalized treatment plan and initial timeline during your complimentary Invisalign consultation.

5. Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?

Invisalign is a versatile treatment option, but its suitability depends on your specific dental needs. It can treat a wide range of orthodontic issues including crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites, gap teeth and open bites. In extremely complex cases, your treatment may still require traditional braces. You can schedule a complimentary Invisalign consultation, virtually or in-person, to find out if Invisalign is the best orthodontic treatment for you.

6. How often should I wear my Invisalign aligners?

You should wear your Invisalign aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day to get the best results. You can remove your Invisalign for eating, drinking, brushing, flossing or special occasions.

7. Are there any dietary restrictions with Invisalign?

No, there are no food restrictions with Invisalign since you can remove the aligners when eating. Just make sure to clean your teeth before putting the aligners back in to prevent bacteria and staining.

8. Does Invisalign hurt?

You may experience mild pressure or discomfort when you put on a new set of aligners, but this is usually temporary. You’ll get used to the pressure in as soon as 20 minutes and the discomfort should go away within two days at the latest. It’s a sign that the treatment is working and over-the-counter pain relievers can help ease any discomfort if needed.

9. How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

You can clean your aligners by gently brushing them with a soft toothbrush, toothpaste and lukewarm water. Specialized cleaning crystals or solutions are also available for purchase on the Invisalign Accessories page.

10. Can I see the results before starting Invisalign?

Yes, you can thanks to the smile simulator on our iTERO machine as well as the Invisalign Smile View available for mobile phones. Dr Gohar will use the 3D computer imaging scanner in our office to show you a virtual representation of your expected results. This way, you can visualize your future smile and get a boost of inspiration before you begin treatment!

11. How much does Invisalign cost?

On average, the cost of Invisalign treatment can range from $4,000 to $8,000. The price depends on factors such as the dentist’s level of expertise, severity of the dental issues being treated, length of treatment and dental office location.

At Viva Smile, we charge a flat rate of $5,500 for Invisalign treatment. This cost will cover the entire treatment, including your consultation, digital scans, x-rays, office visits, refinement trays (if needed) and a set of Vivera retainers.

With Dr Gohar, your smile transformation is guaranteed. She’s treated hundreds of patients over the years and achieved amazing results for them every single time.

12. Do you offer financing options for Invisalign?

We understand that this is an important decision. We offer payment options to make Invisalign treatment more accessible and affordable for all. These options may include:

  • Insurance Coverage: Many dental insurance plans cover a portion of the cost of orthodontic Invisalign treatment.
  • Financing Options: We partner with financing companies that offer loans specifically for medical and dental expenses. These loans typically have low interest rates and flexible repayment options. If you decide to finance, your monthly payments may be as low as $89 a month.
  • Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs): These accounts allow patients to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for medical expenses, including Invisalign.
  • In-Office Payment Plans: We may offer payment plans that allow patients to pay for their Invisalign treatment over a period of several months.

13. What is the difference between Invisalign and traditional metal braces?

  • Invisible: Invisalign aligners are clear and virtually invisible, so they are much less noticeable than traditional braces. Additionally, the aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, which can make oral hygiene easier than with traditional braces.
  • Customized: Invisalign treatment is customized for each patient's specific needs, using advanced digital technology to create a virtual 3D model of the patient's teeth. This allows for a more precise treatment plan that can achieve optimal results.
  • Comfortable: Invisalign aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable plastic that won't irritate the inside of the mouth like traditional braces can. There are no wires or brackets to adjust, which can also make the treatment process more comfortable.
  • Convenient: Invisalign treatment typically requires fewer office visits than traditional braces, and appointments are usually shorter. Additionally, patients can switch to the next set of aligners on their own at home, so they don't need to come to the office for adjustments.
  • Efficient: Invisalign treatment can often achieve the desired results faster than traditional braces, depending on the patient's specific dental issues. This is because the treatment plan is more precise and the aligners apply constant, gentle pressure to the teeth.
  • Predictable: With advanced software including ClinCheck, Smile View, and Smile Architect, your comprehensive treatment is digitally planned with predictable results. The movement of your teeth is visualized in 3D so you can fully understand your Invisalign journey.
